About The Position

The PT School Custodian at St. Theresa Catholic School is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across various school facilities, including classrooms, library, gym, cafeteria, and offices. The custodian will report directly to the Principal and will be involved in various cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff.

Requirements

  • Essential physical and mental capabilities including interpersonal skills, memory, attention to detail, follow directions, comprehension, calculating, reading, writing, speaking, evaluating, mathematics, organizing, and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize classrooms, library, gym, cafeteria, main offices, and business office.
  • Check restrooms/bathrooms and clean and sanitize as necessary using established procedures.
  • Empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers as needed.
  • Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
  • Lock and unlock assigned buildings; secure buildings when facilities are not in use, checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights.
  • Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies; use as directed.
  • Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs in areas within sixteen feet of buildings using hand-operated tools or small power equipment.
  • Move furniture, equipment, supplies, and tools on an incidental basis.
  • Perform other maintenance related tasks as directed by the principal and assistant principal.
  • Attend to emergencies when necessary.
  • Attend safety meetings and other related meetings.
  • Take classes as required in cleaning methods and techniques, new products, First Aid, CPR, and working relationships.
  • Support and enforce all policies.
  • Observe and uphold OSHA/WISHA rules, school health, and safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Follow asbestos removal procedures.
  • Ability to perform minor electrical work, plumbing, and carpentry work.
  • Responsible for cleaning school grounds and parking lots.
  • On-call to meet police at school if the alarm goes off.
