About The Position

The position is responsible for keeping the district's school buildings in a state of operating excellence, ensuring that there are no problems or interruptions to the educational program. The role involves instructing custodians, assisting in scheduling, performing maintenance tasks, and ensuring the cleanliness and security of the facilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the essential functions.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct custodians verbally and in writing in building and grounds custodial and routine preventative maintenance activities.
  • Assist the maintenance supervisor in assigning and scheduling extra time for custodians.
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities as required.
  • Maintain inventory of custodial/maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • Clean and preserve designated spaces, equipment, etc. in building.
  • Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and minor repair on plumbing, custodial equipment, building structure and hardware.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs.
  • Assist visiting public utilizing the facilities with directions within building and in obtaining and setting up as needed equipment.
  • Mow grass, shovel snow and maintain ground equipment.
  • Perform normal operator adjustments and service to facility equipment such as compressors, boiler, unit ventilators and fans and maintain records on operation and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain building and grounds security opening the building each school day.
  • Maintain work related records and prepare various reports as directed.
  • Work closely with school administrators.
  • Coordinate job functions with principal and Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds.
  • Train personnel in the use of equipment and methods of cleaning.
