About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the general supervision of the Facility Director, the Custodial Coordinator supervises the branch custodial staff. Who Are We? Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; some college or technical school preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in custodial field
  • 2 years’ experience as housekeeping supervisor preferred
  • Solid knowledge of basic custodial equipment and functions
  • Ability to troubleshoot cleaning equipment issues
  • Ability to relate well with staff and members
  • Obtain and/or maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to resolve problems and exercise independent judgement in applying cleaning policies and procedures
  • Be willing to alter work schedule to deal with job demands and manage competing priorities
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean facility at all times.
  • Supervise and assist in training housekeeping staff.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of janitorial supplies and inform Facility Director of supplies that need to be ordered.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks as required or assigned.
  • Assist in scheduling housekeeping staff.
  • Perform period inspections to ensure an excellent level of cleanliness.
  • Evaluate and report any health, safety or cleanliness issues to the Facility Director.
  • Promptly respond to any urgent housekeeping issues as they arise. Contact Facility Director if guidance is needed.
  • Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
