About The Position

The Currie C. and Thomas A. Barron Visiting Professor in the Environment and Humanities at Princeton University is a distinguished position aimed at scholars whose work intersects with environmental issues and the humanities. Requirements

• Accomplished scholar on leave from their home institution with an exceptional record of publication and teaching.
• Expertise in environmental issues related to air and water sustainability, biodiversity, energy, environmental justice, food system change, global health, global warming, and wilderness histories and futures.
• Background in American studies, settler colonial studies, Indigenous studies, environmental art and media, environmental history, literature and environment, cultural anthropology and geography, or religion and ecology.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in interdisciplinary and/or collaborative research.
• Distinguished record as a leader in national environmental organizations or in the arts.

Responsibilities

• Teach an average of one course per semester, subject to sufficient enrollment and approval by the Dean of the Faculty.
• Mentor and advise two to three students on independent projects.
• Organize university/public lectures and forums on related topics.
• Contribute to the life of the High Meadows Environmental Institute and cultivate dialogue at the intersection of the humanities and the environment.
• Devote remaining duty time to research, writing, and other professional pursuits.
