About The Position

The Curriculum Writer Assistant is responsible for researching and crafting instructional materials, lessons, and activities for The Mohegan Tribe. Under the direction of the Director of Curriculum & Instruction, the Curriculum Writer Assistant is responsible for developing and maintaining tools, resources, and instructional activities that support the Educator Project and related curriculum projects. These projects include but are not limited to differentiated curriculum design to support the Mohegan Tribe’s Educator Project, Mohegan Challenge Grant School programming, CT Teacher of the Year Programming, Professional Development Sessions, and educational programming for the Tribal Membership.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of academic research methods and ability to vet sources for authenticity
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Mohegan history
  • Ability to speak in front of large crowds
  • Ability to build awareness and stay up to date with educational pedagogy and differentiation by participating in professional learning assigned by Director
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks both independently and jointly with others
  • Skills in typing with a focus on grammar and punctuation
  • Good organizational, verbal, written communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to grow from feedback and set goals for future growth
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, or another related field
  • One (1) year experience as a classroom teacher or similar education focused position
  • Current curriculum or lesson design experience
  • Current understanding of CT or National K-12 educational standards
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Organizational or Google Suite skills
  • Demonstrated experience working with technology-based instruction and assessment
  • Must be a member of the Mohegan Tribe
  • Successful candidate must pass the background check in accordance with the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act (ICPA)
  • Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule, including evening shifts
