About The Position

Operation PAR, Inc. is a non-profit organization offering the full continuum of services for individuals with substance use and/or mental health disorders.  PAR has been providing comprehensive behavioral health treatment in west Florida since 1970 through advocacy, education, clinical services, and research. Provide ongoing support to preschool teachers in the implementation of the curriculum, offering coaching and modeling best practices in classroom instruction Observe teachers in the classroom and provide feedback on instructional strategies, classroom management, and the use of educational resources Assist teachers in developing engaging, hands-on activities that support children’s cognitive, social-emotional, language, and motor development Guide teachers in creating developmentally appropriate learning activities that are aligned with the curriculum and engage children in active learning Encourage teachers to incorporate various teaching methods such as creative arts, science experiments, literacy activities, and social-emotional learning into their daily schedules

Requirements

  • Completion of the minimum number of academic hours required for teaching the specific educational level assigned
  • Associate Degree or Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or related field preferred
  • Two years experience in a licensed childcare center
  • A comparable amount of training, education, or experience may be substituted for the above minimum qualifications if regulation requirements for the position are met
  • Knowledge of developmental milestones
  • Knowledge of developmental delays and methods of addressing problems
  • Knowledge of learning styles and appropriate teaching methods
  • Knowledge of Pinellas County License Board, ELC and other related regulations
  • Knowledge of basic typing and computer skills
  • Ability to interact in a positive, productive and effective way with counselors, parents, medical personnel and clerical staff
  • Ability to work with parents and a positive non-threatening manner
  • Ability to apply appropriate observation and documentation skills
  • Ability to coordinate with outside agencies to facilitate reunification
  • Ability to display enthusiasm and create a warm, caring atmosphere of learning for the child and the parent
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood development and instructional strategies
  • Ability to create engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities
  • Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in using educational technologies and resources to enhance learning
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and families
  • Ability to write accurately and legibly
  • Moderate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Windows-based computers
  • Ability to accurately type at least 40 words per minute
  • Ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time
  • Ability to bend, stoop and reach. Ability to lift and carry 10 pounds
  • Ability to sit in meetings for extended periods of time
  • Ability to move throughout program facilities both indoors and outdoors
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Must maintain current training as required by Operation PAR, Inc. policies

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing support to preschool teachers in the implementation of the curriculum, offering coaching and modeling best practices in classroom instruction
  • Observe teachers in the classroom and provide feedback on instructional strategies, classroom management, and the use of educational resources
  • Assist teachers in developing engaging, hands-on activities that support children’s cognitive, social-emotional, language, and motor development
  • Guide teachers in creating developmentally appropriate learning activities that are aligned with the curriculum and engage children in active learning
  • Encourage teachers to incorporate various teaching methods such as creative arts, science experiments, literacy activities, and social-emotional learning into their daily schedules
