About The Position

The Curriculum Specialist will assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs to support the Mission of the WFISD. This role involves working closely with instructional personnel to enhance educational development and evaluation. The specialist will collaborate with curriculum personnel and campus administrators to develop the school's mission and improve school programs. The position requires effective communication skills and the ability to maintain staff morale while supporting district objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred.
  • Valid Texas teaching elementary certificate.
  • Three years or more teaching experience.
  • Demonstrates leadership ability as measured by individual T-TESS evaluations or possesses Supervisor or Mid-management certification.
  • Displays knowledge in a given subject area.
  • Demonstrates ability in written and oral communications.
  • Possesses strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with curriculum personnel and campus administrators in developing the Mission of the school.
  • Develops and maintains staff morale with employees serving in the division under the specialist's direction.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills in dealing with district and school administrators, staff, parents, and the community.
  • Develops long and short-range district objectives and goals; supports the district's instructional objectives.
  • Makes recommendations related to instruction, supervision, and curriculum based on classroom observations and assessment findings.
  • Assists in the implementation of instructional goals and objectives.
  • Promotes a positive image that supports the school district's goals and objectives.
  • Systematically monitors program activities and uses evaluative findings to determine the quality of outcomes.
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of student achievement data.
  • Maintains appropriate records for area of responsibility.
  • Recommends or develops instructional materials and assessments.
  • Coordinates the development, maintenance, and revision of curriculum documents.
  • Plans and facilitates staff development activities.
  • Conferences regularly with staff to develop growth plans.
  • Implements policies established by federal and state law and local board policy.
  • Analyzes facility and equipment needs for teaching and learning.
  • Develops and accounts for budgets for all programs and activities.
  • Understands the student management system and expected student behaviors.
  • Participates in curriculum area growth opportunities and provides leadership.
  • Actively seeks and utilizes evaluative feedback regarding job performance.
  • Participates in professional development programs.
  • Communicates district goals to others.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
