About The Position

The Early Childhood Curriculum & Instruction Specialist provides consistent, reliable support to early childhood teachers in their role through regular attendance and by modeling best practices, providing coaching, resources, and trainings teachers need to be successful and align to state early learning standards.

Requirements

  • Valid Florida’s teaching certificate (PreK-3rd grade or Birth to 4)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education (or additional teaching experience with alternative certification)
  • 5 years of successful teaching experience in a Pre-K classroom (students with and without disabilities)
  • 3 years of experience in a related school leadership role
  • Has experience with leading MTSS processes and ability to create and/or re-deliver consortium trainings
  • Experience in utilizing the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards
  • Familiar with state testing requirements for Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK)
  • Experience in curriculum and assessment development
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Understands and utilizes data analysis to improve student achievement
  • Creative, energetic, self-starter able to prioritize and work independently with minimal guidance
  • Think critically to effectively organize and analyze information and anticipate potential challenges or new information when solving problems.
  • Integrates and act upon new information quickly and is comfortable thinking about details and the big picture

Responsibilities

  • Provides content specific guidance, modeling, and monitoring in all content areas for early childhood classroom teachers and administrators in UCP Charter Schools.
  • Provides technical assistance and support to teachers and Principals by interpreting data, assisting with program planning, and providing feedback concerning curriculum implementation for Early Childhood.
  • Monitors implementation of program design and best practices in classrooms and provides feedback/plans for improvement on a consortium-wide level.
  • Supports teachers in developing high quality lesson plans that align to state Early childhood standards.
  • Supports staffing and onboarding.
  • Uses data-based decision making, CLASS expertise, and ongoing observations, to document progress, guide professional development, complete evaluations, and support continuous quality improvement.
  • Supports classroom management.
  • Ensures developmentally appropriate practices for children and integrates School Readiness Goals.
  • Builds capacity for teachers by supporting them through conducting classroom observations to identify strengths and deficiencies related to content instruction and program implementation and actively utilizes UCP’s coaching cycle.
  • Develops and provides professional development for early childhood education staff.
  • Assists with planning and hosting school/kindergarten readiness family engagement events.
  • Assists in collaboration of curriculum writing across content areas and other instructional programs as appropriate.
  • Provides feedback related to curriculum adaptations/assists in developing and executing implementation plan for curriculum.
  • Assists campuses to ensure all DCF staffing compliance requirements are met.
  • Fosters strong relationships with teachers and community partners to enhance overall program quality.
  • Assists in related grant writing.
  • Completes required reports/compliance documentation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
