About The Position

As a curriculum designer you will primarily serve as a designer for online and in-person, instructor-led, and blended learning projects using instructional design principles. The incumbent will be expected to use learning software such as Articulate 360 and PowerPoint to include interactive elements such as audio, video, quizzes, and scenarios in training material while also maintaining appropriate instructional materials for instructors and learners. This position uses design and project management principles to enhance the content of courses and will work to further enhance the success of the division’s procurement, contract management, and contract negotiation courses.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of current trends in instructional design and/or adult learning fields.
  • Knowledge of principles of effective design for online training (OLT) and instructor-led training (ILT) projects.
  • Knowledge and skills in written and verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of developing engagement and knowledge-transfer activities.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Skill in using specialized design software (Articulate 360, Captivate, etc.) and other web-based tools.
  • Skill in developing and/or presenting curriculum.
  • Ability to apply theoretical concepts (adult learning theory, instructional design principles) in real-world training scenarios.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize complex data to make recommendations for improvements.
  • Ability to interact effectively with others and maintain working relationships.
  • Ability to work on multiple, complex projects.
  • Ability to prioritize work tasks.
  • Ability to problem-solve effectively and develop work solutions based on needs assessments or other materials.
  • Two years of experience developing instructional materials and maintaining courses or programs.
  • One year of experience with course design software (Articulate 360, PowerPoint, Captivate, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in the fields of instructional design, adult education, performance improvement, communications, psychology, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of experience utilizing specialized course design software.
  • Knowledge of State of Florida procurement statutes (Chapter 287) and rules (60A).

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, maintain, and enhance learning and development programs, processes, and supporting materials (e.g. program implementation and training guides, process communication tools, job aids, presentations, video, multimedia) for the adult learner to be used with different media and delivery options: instructor-led, virtual, interactive web-based, self-study, and assessment products.  Research information for the purposes of developing new and enhancing existing programs that meet professional development objectives.
  • Utilize a wide range of instructional technologies to enhance curriculum design and development, creating engaging learning materials and completing projects that improve instructional quality, increase learner engagement, and support measurable learning outcomes.
  • Maintain procedures, manuals, data files, and governance documents for the purpose of providing relevant information and complying with regulatory requirements and policy guidelines.
  • Create and maintain project timelines and monitor completion of milestones & deliverables for areas of responsibility. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (SMEs, advisory groups, etc.). Function as a liaison for the Division of State Purchasing to customers to identify needs and coordinate service and support for professional development objectives.
  • Other essential duties as assigned.
