About The Position

The primary focus of this role is leading and managing the development Houston ISD NES (New Education System) curriculum, with a specific emphasis on writing teacher-facing curriculum in English Language Arts grade 3rd through 5th grade including slide decks with teacher guidance for implementation, Demonstration of Learning (DOL), student activities and differentiated assignments aligned to the learning objective provided for each day. This role requires organization, the ability to give clear direction and provide feedback to meet the specific goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least 3 years working in the district/central office of a large urban school district.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and creation of curriculum for assigned content area(s) and grade level band(s), ensuring alignment with NES model and Houston ISD's educational objectives.
• Evaluate curriculum through a sensitivity lens to ensure grade-level appropriateness and cultural relevance.
• Lead and facilitate in collaborative brain trust sessions to gather insights, share expertise, and foster innovation in curriculum design and instructional strategies.
• Attend and provide professional development sessions focused on internalizing state standards and alignment to NES model for assigned content area(s) and grade level band(s).
• Oversee and deliver weekly tasks to Curriculum Writers 1 to equitable distribute work and ensure high-quality completed documents are prepared on time.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
