Job Description - Fulfillment of mission The Roger Bacon Academy is an education management organization that manages multiple charter schools. The following mission outlines the expectations of all employees at the school level as well as employees of The Roger Bacon Academy in providing support to the schools. Our understandings of humankind and our universe are expressed and communicated through all our arts and sciences. Each method of expression – language, painting, music, mathematics, and science – has its rules and techniques for effectively communicating these ideas and understandings. These rules and techniques are the bridges over which ideas must be communicated from one generation to the next. Job Priorities The Curriculum Author of Instructional Technology provides vision and leadership for online learning at RBA. They are responsible for communication, collaboration, vision, strategic planning and establishing processes for development and effective delivery of online classes. The position oversees the management, quality assurance, and outcomes for RBA Online classrooms and manages the Learning Management System (LMS), technical operations, and digital content associated with online course delivery and faculty training, professional development, and innovation related to instructional design and development. This role serves as the primary administrator responsible for ensuring that online courses and programs meet RBA quality assurance measures and regulatory compliance requirements. The position reports to the founder of RBA, Mr. Baker Mitchell.

  • Physical ability to lift/carry 20 lbs. and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely and collaboratively with curriculum leadership and operational leadership to leverage expertise, resources, and support in the development and delivery of the online program and use of classroom instructional technology.
  • Develop and deliver faculty training and professional development that develops faculty instructional technology competence, supports best practices in instructional design, development, and delivery, and promotes instructional innovation in the use of learning technologies that enhance teaching and learning in online, hybrid, and web-enhanced instruction.
  • Provide ongoing online learning support, training, and professional development to faculty.
  • Ensures and maintains a comprehensive program and/or library of professional learning materials for staff to build the capacity of educators to ensure the effective delivery of education outside of a traditional classroom or through various digital resources via video, face-to-face, or job aids.
  • Provides mentorship and leadership for day-to-day operations for virtual instruction, classroom instructional technology, and support teachers as needed.
  • Maximizes current resources and works to secure additional resources in support of students, families, and staff engaged in non-traditional educational delivery.
  • Effectively manages vendor relationships as needed in support of educational delivery models.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in the best practices in the design, development, and delivery of large-scale online educational programming, teaching, and learning.
  • The Curriculum Author of Instructional Technology will work closely with the IT and data departments to help create and maintain all online courses within the LMS throughout the school year.
  • The Curriculum Author of Instructional Technology will also work closely with the deans to ensure that the technology curriculum meets the minimum requirements for student success in online and concurrent courses.
