The Curriculum and Instruction Support Analyst is a member of Instructional Support Services (ISS) at the Baskin School of Engineering (BE) at UC Santa Cruz. This position is responsible for coordinating and managing the delivery of BE undergraduate and graduate instructional programs. The role involves providing essential analytical support and assisting in various instructionally related administrative functions, including course scheduling, faculty support, enrollment management, curriculum and catalog revisions, managing space, coordinating exams with accommodations, and general administrative support. The analyst works independently and cooperatively, interacting regularly with faculty and staff within BE and across campus. The incumbent applies knowledge of program requirements to help mount curriculum for respective departments, supporting students in earning their degrees in a timely manner.

  • Coordinate the schedule of classes and associated secondary sections for selected departments and academic programs in BE.
  • Devise solutions to classroom space and scheduling problems.
  • Perform enrollment management across assigned departments, analyzing problems and determining solutions.
  • Set up classes for student enrollment using knowledge of AIS enrollment system.
  • Collect, analyze, and provide statistics on enrollment trends to academic departments.
  • Act as contact for assigned departments in management and advising for enrollment management.
  • Facilitate BE Instructional Support Orientation for incoming faculty.
  • Coordinate secondary sections and laboratories based on projected enrollments.
  • Maintain complex records of scheduling restrictions for all departments and programs.
  • Anticipate and resolve conflicts, facilitating discussions as needed.
  • Coordinate with the campus Registrar's Office for classroom space and room reassignments.
  • Develop schedules for assigned lecture and distance learning courses.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of training materials related to curriculum and enrollment management.
  • Implement curriculum development quality and service standards.
  • Facilitate new and revised course approval requests and related paperwork.
  • Review course approvals for compliance with policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain department course submission information and facilitate course approval materials.
  • Participate in the annual revision and submission of catalog copies.
  • Assist Instructional Support Coordinator with Disability Resource Center analyses and planning.
  • Act as a member of ISS providing services for walk-in faculty/staff/students needing assistance.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
  • Knowledge of department, organization, and University policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Knowledge of department and school/college general and major course requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to work with department senior management, faculty, and students.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability in problem identification, reasoning, and analysis to identify trends.
