About The Position

The Director of Curriculum and Assessment is responsible for instructional leadership of Milford Area Public Schools #124. This includes providing oversight for curriculum and instruction, coaching teachers, leading professional development, responding to data results, and overseeing district and building-level assessments. The Director of Curriculum and Assessment is an active member of the school's leadership team, which regularly collaborates with the Superintendent and building administrators.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field preferred.
  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Administrative Endorsement (Type 75) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience and 2 years of administrative or supervisory experience in a K-12 setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Illinois Learning Standards, state assessments, curriculum development, instructional best practices, and educational technology.
  • Experience with curriculum coaching, professional development facilitation, and instructional leadership.
  • Strong skills in data analysis, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal collaboration.
  • Proficiency in Google Docs, educational software, and student management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, development, and implementation of district-wide curriculum initiatives.
  • Coordinate professional development opportunities for faculty to enhance their understanding of curriculum design, assessment practices, and instructional strategies.
  • Provide curriculum coaching to support teachers in instructional strategies, differentiated instruction, and curriculum implementation.
  • Oversee development and implementation of the RtI program, ensuring consistent K-12 services.
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of the district improvement plan.
  • Monitor horizontal and vertical curriculum articulation and continuity across grade levels.
  • Initiate and maintain curriculum mapping and continuous review processes.
  • Represent the district in county, regional, and state meetings related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and technology.
  • Organize, plan, and monitor professional development opportunities; ensure PD is data-driven and aligned with instructional goals.
  • Chair the District Curriculum Committee and serve on district and building committees as needed.
  • Oversee and run the PreSchool For All Grant
  • In coordinatioon with the administrative team and Title Grant writer, provides direction and development for Title funding.
  • Make recommendations pertaining to policy and procedure to the Superintendent.
  • Report periodically to the board on all curriculum, instruction, and assessment matters.
  • Oversee the development, administration, and analysis of district-wide assessments, including formative, summative, and state-mandated tests.
  • Collaborate with building principals and teachers to ensure assessment data is used to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.
  • Maintain a comprehensive district assessment calendar and ensure timely reporting of results to stakeholders.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of assessment tools and recommend new or revised assessments to support curriculum and instructional goals.
  • Works with Director of Technology and District Webmaster to manage district curriculum and technology information dissemination, including the district website and digital communications.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Technology on technology planning, e-rate applications, software evaluation, and implementation of instructional technology systems.
  • Participate in grant planning and proposal writing to secure additional funding for curriculum and instructional initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment of district resources-including technology, instructional materials, and professional development-with curriculum and instructional goals.
  • Participate in the hiring process for instructional staff as appropriate.
  • Coordinate teacher induction programs and orientation for new staff.
  • Counsel principals and teachers on instructional and curriculum-related matters to improve effectiveness.
  • Serve on District Evaluation Joint Committee and other committees as needed.
  • Maintain open communication with staff, students, parents, and the community regarding curriculum and instructional initiatives.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, and stakeholders to promote a cohesive and unified approach to curriculum and assessment.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, students, and external partners regarding curriculum initiatives, assessment policies, and academic standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Board of Education.
