About The Position

The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art is a non-profit art museum that strongly believes in our mission to inspire curiosity, wonder, and understanding by connecting people with the contemporary arts and craft of the Puget Sound region. The Curatorial Associate reports to the Chief Curator, and works primarily with Curatorial Staff, Volunteers (such as Gallery Docents, Art Installation Crew Members, and Event Volunteers), and Artists. This position requires an appreciation for art and Artists, strong organizational skills, computer skills and ability to learn BIMA databases and report formats, ability to handle and install art, and experience working with staff teams and volunteers. This position also requires excellent communication skills, problem-solving skills, confidentiality, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. In addition to Curatorial support, this position is a key player on the Auction Staff Team, in particular helping to coordinate and track donations of art.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two (2) years of related work experience.
  • Ability to learn complex data management systems and procedures and auction software.
  • Ability to adapt quickly, pivot strategies, and learn new technologies as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including computer skills.
  • Proficiency or ability to learn Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and to handle multiple and varied projects.
  • Ability to work flexible and variable hours.
  • Valid driver’s license & vehicle insurance, and ability to drive cars and vans for BIMA purposes.
  • MAST (alcohol serving) and Food Handler’s permits required.
  • Represent BIMA to the public and all stakeholders in a positive and professional manner, providing outstanding service to all clients, with a commitment to confidentiality.
  • Availability to work BIMA events, especially BIMA’s BIMA Bash! Auction.
