About The Position

The Curatorial Associate will support the University of Texas Insect Collection by assisting the Curator in the preparation, preservation, data capture, and accessioning of biological specimens. This role is essential for the operation of the collection, which is a significant archive of Texas's natural history, and involves managing loans, maintaining safety procedures, and coordinating with external researchers and visitors.

Requirements

  • A university-level degree in entomology, biology, museum studies, or a related field with credit hours in an entomology class with a collections component
  • At least 3 months experience in museum collections or entomology
  • Knowledge of ordinal-level insect taxonomy
  • Familiarity with the basic functions of natural history collections
