About The Position

The Culture Paraprofessional plays a vital role in ensuring a safe, structured, joyful, and supportive school environment for all students. Working closely with school leadership and the Student Support team, the Culture Paraprofessional provides direct social-emotional and behavioral support, implements school-wide culture systems, and models KIPP’s values of excellence, respect, responsibility, and resilience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and Georgia Paraprofessional certification or two years of college with a “C” or better, or Associate’s degree or higher
  • At least 2 years of experience working with children/adolescents in education, youth development, social services, or behavioral health.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to implement behavioral interventions consistently and effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prepare and maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a diverse team.
  • Commitment to the mission of preparing educationally underserved children for success in high school, college, and life.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education, social services, or a related field.
  • Experience working in an urban school setting.
  • Familiarity with restorative practices, trauma-informed care, or positive behavior intervention systems (PBIS).
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish or other languages) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, proactive behavioral and social-emotional support to students as assigned.
  • Assist with discipline investigations and support restorative conversations and interventions.
  • Make daily attendance/absence calls to ensure scholars are supported and accounted for.
  • Monitor hallways, classrooms, cafeterias, recess, and other school spaces to promote a safe and orderly environment.
  • Support In-School Suspension (ISS) by supervising, collecting assignments, and facilitating reflection opportunities.
  • Demonstrate and model positive boundaries with students and families while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Uphold and reinforce KIPP’s values, school culture systems, and behavior expectations consistently and equitably.
  • Collect, organize, and return ISS assignments to teachers in a timely manner.
  • Document behavioral interventions, supports, and incidents using designated online platforms.
  • Maintain accurate records of recurring behavior issues and interventions.
  • Provide additional clerical and student support tasks as assigned.
