About the position

The Culture & Arts Education Coordinator at the George Washington Carver Museum is responsible for planning and implementing educational programs for both adults and youth that align with the mission of the Parks and Recreation's Museums and Cultural Programs. This role involves building collaborative relationships with various stakeholders, managing budgets, supervising personnel, and developing community partnerships to enhance cultural education offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement adult and youth programs relevant to the mission of the Parks and Recreation's Museums and Cultural Programs.
  • Manage, plan, develop, coordinate, and evaluate collections related budgets.
  • Supervise museum personnel, volunteers, and students.
  • Help plan and implement relevant programs, exhibits, and events.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with a wide variety of Austin area stakeholders.
  • Lead employees, contractors, or volunteers to accomplish assigned educational programs, activities, and events.
  • Recruit, supervise, and train staff and volunteers.
  • Conduct and review needs assessments and establish short- and long-range plans for assigned areas.
  • Prepare and review reports.
  • Oversee the use, care of, and resource allocations of assigned facilities, collections, grounds, and equipment.
  • Coordinate assigned City-wide events and ensure timely development, resource allocation, and scheduling of activities and events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a related field.
  • One year of experience related to the development and implementation of assigned programs.
  • First Aid Certification or other relevant certifications as specified for the assignment.
  • Supervising experience in a relevant field.
  • Strong organizational skills and budgeting experience.
  • Data analysis skills and public speaking abilities.
