A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CULTURAL VENUES SUPERVISOR As a Venues Supervisor, you will oversee and manage the day-to-day facility and venue operations of the Cultural Arts Division Venues Program (Arts, Culture & Events Center, Edinburg Municipal Auditorium, Activity Center, Fountain Center, City Hall Courtyard, Promenade Park Amphitheater, Additional indoor and outdoor Cultural Arts venues as assigned), ensuring that all venues are fully operational, properly staffed, safely maintained, and consistently prepared to support rentals, programs, rehearsals, performances, meetings, and special events. This position manages the operations execution of facility use and venue activities within the Cultural Arts Division and serves as a liaison between users. You will be responsible for enforcing policies related to building use, safety, rentals and asset protection. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include supervising, training, scheduling, and evaluating venue staff; delegating job duties and resolving operational issues to ensure effective staffing coverage. While maintaining and managing the official calendar of venue rentals, programs, rehearsals and events across all Cultural Art Division facilities, ensuring accurate scheduling, resource coordination, and avoidance of conflicts. When you aren't assisting with Cultural Arts Events, you will collect and report monthly facility usage, rentals and monitor venue-related budgets and rental revenue performance and assist supervising staff with identifying funding needs, and granting support for ongoing facility upkeeping and improvements . Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Art/Arts Administration, Public Administration, Event Management, Facilities Management or related field.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible, professional-level experience in facility operations, venue management, event operations, or a closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Must have a current and valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Public Administration, Arts Administration, Facilities Management, Event Management, or a related field.
  • Associate's degree plus five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in venue operations, facilities management, or event operations may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible, professional-level experience in facility operations, venue management, event operations, or a closely related field.
