About The Position

DAVE School is seeking a qualified Cultural Studies Adjunct Instructor. (On-Campus) Our campuses are growing! If you have a passion for teaching, we'd like to talk to you. Course: COM4000 – Cultural Studies Days and Hours: Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM plus Open Lab This course introduces students to a variety of cultural practices (literature, blogs, films, radio, and comics) from across the globe. Focuses on the ways that context, genre, and medium (e.g., written, visual, oral) affect how these practices are produced, circulated, and received. The Instructor’s duties include teaching, directing, and coordinating academic or academic-related activities. The Faculty member provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to gain employment in their chosen field of study by utilizing teaching skills, experience, and abilities to create a positive, nurturing, and effective classroom environment that actively engages and supports students in their program of study, ultimately leading to their retention and successful graduation. The instructor is assigned to a specific program based on their professional and educational qualifications and teaches a full-time load each term or module

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Cultural Studies, Humanities, Communication, or a closely related field.
  • At least one (1) year of teaching experience at the college or university level (on-ground or online).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Official academic transcripts of all degrees are required. All degrees must be from institutions accredited by regional or national accrediting bodies approved by the U.S. Department of Education. Foreign transcripts may be acceptable in some cases and require a translation and evaluation of equivalency to U.S. degrees by a recognized agency.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and delivers lesson plans and instructional materials and promotes a teaching-learning environment that encourages students’ academic progress.
  • Conducts lectures, discussions, and practical demonstrations to teach students
  • Start and end class at the assigned times, including break times
  • Keep current with industry trends and developments to ensure that course content remains relevant. Maintains knowledge of the subject matter in the field(s) of appointment and creates learning experiences to make the subject matter meaningful and relevant to the students
  • Provides feedback and guidance to students and helps them improve their skills and knowledge in and out of the class during open lab or office hours
  • Be prepared for class every day. Have the syllabus, lesson plans, classroom or lab, and related materials ready
  • Maintains the content of the courses updated and at a top level to achieve the highest standards of academic excellence possible.
  • All positions require exceptional computer skills using Microsoft Office applications, Adobe, and familiarity with information systems; available to deliver the course using diverse resources; strong verbal and written communication skills.
