About The Position

Shelter Insurance is seeking a Cultivate Intern for their Auto Physical Damage Claims team. This internship offers hands-on experience in insurance claims operations, supporting the team with claim assignments, customer service, and administrative tasks. Interns will be involved in various department functions, learning Shelter-specific policies and procedures through job shadowing, attending meetings, and performing assigned duties. Requirements

  • Must be a current, full-time college student at the sophomore or junior level, also enrolled full time for Fall 2026.
  • Must be available to travel to Home Office in Columbia, MO June 15th -19th and July 20th – 24th.
  • Good personal computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Time commitment of 8-10 weeks of employment from May through August, and be able to coordinate schedule with school ending, Shelter job needs and start dates.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Auto Physical Damage Claims team by assisting with claim assignments, providing customer service, and completing administrative tasks to help claims progress efficiently and accurately, while gaining hands-on experience in insurance claims operations.
  • Be involved in various department functions and activities for the purpose of learning Shelter-specific policies, procedures, and methods of conducting business.
  • Be exposed to many facets of department activities including, but not limited to, job shadowing, attending department meetings or applicable corporate training classes, and performing assigned job duties.
  • Assist department with regular work and may be assigned to special projects as appropriate.
