About The Position

The Culinary Services Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the community dining program, including menu development, food preparation oversight, food safety, dietary compliance, ordering, inventory, budgeting, kitchen sanitation, staffing of Culinary Assistants, and resident satisfaction. This role ensures meals are nutritious, appealing, and served in accordance with state regulations and resident needs. The Culinary Services Manager upholds the values of Home, Care, and Comfort by creating a dining experience that is consistent, welcoming, and person-centered.

Requirements

  • Current Certified Food Protection Manager (or state-approved equivalent).
  • Experience in food service or culinary operations.
  • Minimum of 1 year supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to complete documentation, follow care plans, and communicate with residents, families, and regulatory agencies, unless reasonable accommodation can be made.
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotation or provide after-hours support as required.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, residents, and families.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including mobility throughout the community.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and posts menus according to state regulatory timeframes 100% of the time.
  • Provides daily alternate meal options in accordance with state regulations 100% of the time.
  • Communicates and posts menu changes within required state timeframes 100% of the time.
  • Ensures meals meet nutritional, therapeutic, and texture modification requirements for 100% of residents with documented dietary needs.
  • Uses standardized recipes and portion standards for 100% of meal preparation.
  • Conducts dining room rounds at least three times per week to assess quality and satisfaction.
  • Achieves dining satisfaction scores that meet or exceed community targets.
  • Ensures 100% of meals are served at safe and appropriate temperatures.
  • Ensures plating and presentation standards are met for 100% of meals served.
  • Responds to resident dining concerns within two business days 100% of the time.
  • Oversees preparation of 100% of scheduled meals.
  • Ensures meal services begin on time 100% of the time.
  • Implements 100% of diet changes within one business day of notification.
  • Ensures Culinary Assistants follow safe food handling and hygiene procedures 100% of the time
  • Completes food and supply inventories at the community-defined frequency 100% on time.
  • Submits food and supply orders according to vendor and community deadlines 100% on time.
  • Maintains inventory levels with zero stockouts of essential items.
  • Tracks and reports food waste at the required frequency 100% on time.
  • Maintains food costs within community budget guidelines 100% of the time.
  • Obtains quotes for large-ticket purchases according to community guidelines.
  • Reviews and verify vendor invoices within three business days 100% of the time.
  • Reports equipment repair needs within one business day 100% of the time.
  • Schedules Culinary Assistant shifts according to community deadlines 100% of the time.
  • Ensures 100% of scheduled culinary shifts are covered using approved staffing methods.
  • Provides performance coaching or feedback to Culinary Assistants at least quarterly.
  • Ensures 100% of Culinary Assistants complete required food safety training within mandated timeframes.
  • Provides task assignments, prep lists, or service expectations to Culinary Assistants daily 100% of the time.
  • Completes daily kitchen and equipment sanitation checks 100% of assigned days.
  • Maintains temperature logs for food storage and dish machines 100% of assigned days.
  • Ensures 100% compliance with state and local health codes during inspections.
  • Completes cleaning checklists and kitchen sanitation schedules 100% of the time.
  • Submits menus, inventories, staffing updates, waste reports, and compliance documentation 100% on time.
