About The Position

Culinary Services Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the dietary department, including menu planning, food service operations, staff supervision, budgeting, and regulatory compliance. This role plays a key part in supporting PioneerCare’s holistic care philosophy through nutritious meals, attractive food presentation, and positive leadership. Regular, consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.

Requirements

  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM/DMA) certification required, or ability to obtain certification within 18 months of hire
  • Experience in food service management, preferably in a skilled nursing or healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of Department of Health regulations for skilled nursing food service operations preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and maintain resident menus in accordance with physician orders and dietary needs
  • Ensure food preparation, quality, and service meet federal regulations, Department of Health standards, and budget guidelines
  • Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate dietary department staff
  • Maintain standardized recipes and portion control for quality and consistency
  • Purchase and order food and supplies within the department’s approved budget
  • Ensure safe working conditions for residents and employees
  • Coordinate special meals, banquets, and events
  • Interview new residents to identify food preferences and dietary needs
  • Maintain ongoing communication with residents to address questions or concerns
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to monitor residents identified as nutritionally “at risk”
  • Coordinate with and implement recommendations from the consulting dietitian
  • Post resident menus as required
  • Prepare for and attend resident care reviews
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development, including DMA training and conferences
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by administration
