About The Position

Restaurant Associates has an opening for Culinary & Hospitality Intern positions at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, NY. This internship program offers hands-on experience working alongside professional chefs and food service leaders in a fast-paced environment. Interns will support daily culinary operations, execute menu items, uphold food safety standards, and contribute to guest service excellence. The program is designed to develop skills in both culinary arts and hospitality, providing exposure to various functions within the industry.

Requirements

  • Genuine interest in culinary arts and the hospitality industry.
  • Enrolled in a culinary program or relevant coursework (preferred, not required).
  • Basic communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in Culinary, Baking, or Pastry Arts.
  • Interest in Farm-to-Fork practices and sustainability in food service.
  • Interest in reducing the carbon 'foodprint'.
  • Knowledge of food safety and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily culinary operations including food preparation, service, and kitchen organization.
  • Execute menu items following standardized recipes and presentation guidelines.
  • Uphold food safety, sanitation, and uniform standards.
  • Assist with receiving, storage, inventory, and purchasing.
  • Contribute to guest service excellence, innovation, and problem-solving.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Participate in associate learning and development activities.
  • Gain exposure to the business side of food service, including financials and quality assurance.
  • Provide operational support across front-of-house, back-of-house, catering, marketing, and administrative functions.
  • Support the execution of operational standards and contractual commitments.
  • Assist with financial activities, including profit & loss and loss prevention.
  • Help ensure safety, quality assurance, and compliance with food safety standards.
  • Participate in associate learning and development initiatives.
  • Gain experience in people management, including scheduling and time management.
  • Assist with inventory management and loss prevention.
