About The Position

Bucks County Community College is seeking a Innovative Culinary educator with strong leadership and communication skills desired for a full-time, short-term contract faculty position. The ideal candidate will possess the skills necessary to lead a team of baking and pastry arts students in the kitchen and/or classroom while maintaining a safe and controlled learning and work environment conducive to education and successful food service operation. This role is responsible for instruction of various baking and pastry classes in face-to-face and online formats for the overall effectiveness of the Culinary Arts and Baking and Pastry Arts programs.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Baking and Pastry Arts, or a closely related field from an accredited institution or equivalent educational and professional preparation that demonstrates mastery of baking and pastry competencies and industry standards.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of full-time professional baking and pastry experience, including work as a pastry chef, baker, or similar role in commercial, institutional, or hospitality settings.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of classical and contemporary baking techniques, ingredient functions, sanitation and safety standards, and current industry trends.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of baking and pastry applications, such as breads, cakes, plated desserts, laminated doughs, and basic chocolate and sugar work.
  • Teaching experience at the community college or postsecondary level, or documented experience delivering industry training or internships/co-ops.
  • Experience with multiple teaching modalities, including in-person, hybrid, online, and accelerated formats.
  • Current ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification required or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to learn and operate College required job-related software programs. (Workday, Canvas, Concourse, etc.)
  • Must have the ability to lift fifty (50) pounds as needed.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods in the kitchen lab.
  • Must be able to perform hands-on demonstrations of culinary techniques and correct use of equipment.
  • This position requires availability to teach at all campuses and through all modalities.
