We are currently looking for a Culinary Aide to work PRN or "as needed" within our Assisted Living and Memory Care community of The Wesleyan. Proven experience working as a prep cook or dishwasher in a restaurant, healthcare, education, or senior living environment along with a deep passion for showing others you care through the support you provide to the culinary team will be essential to your success as a Culinary Aide at The Wesleyan. This is a PRN or "as needed" position and requires a minimum of 16 hours worked per month as well as flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Proven experience as a Prep Cook or in a similar role is a plus.
Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
Ability to follow recipes and production standards.
Ability to use basic math skills to complete required forms and schedules.
High volume, complex foodservice operations experience is highly desirable.
Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

Assist with basic food preparation and ingredient handling.
Prepare food items based on production sheets following established quantities and recipes.
Complete daily production worksheets and waste log sheets.
Safely operate a variety of kitchen equipment, including but not limited to, oven, industrial mixers, tilt skillets, steam jacket kettles, low- and high-pressure steamers, convection steamers, grills, griddles, buffalo choppers, garbage disposals, knives, deep fryers, portion scales, portion control scoops and spoons.
Complete orders from steam tables and grills, serving residents at multiple stations in an efficient and friendly manner; resolve resident concerns in a professional and prompt manner.
Support chefs and kitchen staff during meal prep and service.
Washes and stores all dishes and equipment in accordance with specified procedures.
Assembles, operates, and cleans dish machine.
Cleans and sanitizes and relines the trash/garbage containers.
Responsible for providing prepared food and meals of the highest quality for service to the residents.
Assists cooks and waitstaff as requested.
Responsible to complete other job tasks as assigned by the Executive Chef, Dining Services Director, and/or program Administrator as required.
