About The Position

The School of Hospitality at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for temporary, part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions. Screening of applicants will take place when positions come available. The number of these temporary, part-time, non-tenure track academic positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the program. As such, not everyone in the applicant pool for this position will be contacted and/or selected to teach.

Requirements

• Completion of a Master’s degree in the field in which the faculty member is assigned to teach OR a Bachelor’s degree in a hospitality-related discipline plus professional experience that is current at the time of hire.
• Professional experience must be substantial in terms of duration and level of responsibility, normally no less than ten consecutive years with increasing levels of responsibility and significant levels of supervisory experience.

Nice To Haves

• Nationally recognized certificates and licenses relevant to the field in which the faculty member is assigned to teach (e.g., CEC, FMP, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Teach 3+ credit hours in subject areas such as Basic Cooking Skills, International Cooking, and Foodservice Fundamentals.
• Work and interact with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.
• Demonstrate ability to effectively infuse technology into coursework.
• Be available for consultation with students.
• Prepare course materials and lesson plans.
• Grade student work and provide robust feedback in a timely manner.
• Address student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies.
• Provide online or in-person academic support to students as needed.
• Comply with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
