About The Position

Torch Technologies is seeking a CUAS Radar Systems SME with deep knowledge of threat detection and tracking technologies. Specializes in radar integration, signal processing, and multi-sensor fusion for low, slow, small (LSS) aerial targets. Experienced in evaluating and optimizing radar performance in complex electromagnetic environments. Supports system design, test, and deployment of CUAS solutions for defense and critical infrastructure protection.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related STEM discipline.
  • 2 years of direct experience in systems engineering, preferably within defense or aerospace domains.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance is it required to start.
  • Hands-on experience with test planning, execution, and verification/validation
  • Proficiency in developing technical briefs and documentation
  • Experience in requirements management and systems integration
  • Familiarity with radar, electromagnetic warfare, or kinetic defeat technologies
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in engineering or related STEM field
  • 10+ years supporting DoD weapon systems or programs
  • Previous experience working within an Army Program Office
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic environments

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical authority on radar systems, providing expert guidance across design, development, integration, and lifecycle support.
  • Define and validate radar system requirements, translating operational needs into technically sound and testable specifications.
  • Lead system architecture development to ensure radar designs are scalable, interoperable, and adaptable to evolving mission and threat environments.
  • Conduct and oversee trade studies evaluating radar technologies, architectures, and component options to optimize cost, performance, and schedule.
  • Participate in and lead major design reviews (PDR, CDR, etc.), ensuring design maturity and technical risk mitigation.
  • Develop and apply modeling and simulation tools to assess radar performance, validate predictions, and support system optimization.
  • Identify, assess, and manage technical risks associated with radar development, integration, and acquisition activities.
  • Support acquisition planning, including source selection evaluations, proposal assessments, and contract technical oversight.
  • Develop and review Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMPs) and test procedures, ensuring test adequacy and data-driven performance validation.
  • Ensure radar system interoperability with C2 systems, other DoD sensors, and allied networks for integrated mission operations.
  • Collaborate across engineering, logistics, and program management disciplines to ensure technical alignment and system readiness.
  • Monitor and assess contractor technical performance, ensuring compliance with specifications and design intent.
  • Prepare and deliver technical reports, data analyses, and high-level briefings to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Maintain technical awareness of emerging radar technologies, electronic protection techniques, and digital engineering methods.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to workforce development in radar engineering and system acquisition best practices.
