About The Position

Matchbook Learning is a non-profit charter management organization based in Indianapolis, Indiana. We operate two schools: Matchbook Learning at Wendell Phillips School 63, serving students in Kindergarten through 8th grade, and The Match High School and Career Center, which currently serves 9th and 10th grade students and will expand to include 11th grade students in the fall of 2026. Our mission is to personalize learning, within a restorative community, fostering resilience and excellence while preparing students for real-world opportunities. We are currently seeking a CTE Instructor – Construction Trades to join our CTE Team at Matchbook Learning at The Match High School and Career Center for the 2026-2027 school year. Position Overview The Construction Trades Pathways Instructor provides high-quality instruction aligned to NLPS standards and prepares students for careers in the construction trades. This role combines hands-on technical instruction, program management, and student mentorship to support academic growth, industry readiness, and workforce development.

Responsibilities

  • Instructional Planning & Delivery
  • Develop and maintain a clear scope and sequence with appropriate pacing aligned to student needs and curricular goals
  • Prepare weekly and daily lesson plans that effectively address all required standards
  • Design engaging, hands-on activities and projects that reinforce technical and academic skills
  • Ensure all students are trained in and consistently follow proper shop safety procedures
  • Program & Shop Management
  • Inventory, maintain, and ensure safe use of construction tools and equipment
  • Order instructional materials and project supplies as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe construction shop environment
  • Program Development & Industry Engagement
  • Collaborate with the CTE Director to make relevant updates to the construction program
  • Maintain relationships with construction industry partners to stay current on trends, regulations, and workforce needs
  • Support healthy student enrollment and retention within the pathway
  • Partner with the Workforce Development Director to coordinate internship and work-based learning opportunities
