About The Position

The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Health Science Teacher is responsible for providing students with engaging learning activities and experiences in health science, specifically in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Pathophysiology. The teacher will help students develop the necessary competencies and skills to succeed in society while fostering their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. This role involves lesson planning, classroom management, and collaboration with other educators to ensure a comprehensive educational experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, Associate's Degree, or High School Diploma/GED with equivalent wage-earning experience.
  • Valid Texas career and technical education certificate with required licenses and endorsements.
  • Demonstrated competency in the assigned career and technical education subject area.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with curriculum development in health science education.
  • Familiarity with Texas Education Agency guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet district curriculum requirements.
  • Prepare lessons accommodating individual student differences.
  • Plan and utilize appropriate instructional strategies and materials.
  • Conduct assessments of student learning styles to inform instructional activities.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students.
  • Work with staff to determine instructional goals and methods according to district requirements.
  • Oversee instructional aides and volunteers in the classroom.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through testing.
  • Sponsor extracurricular activities as assigned by the principal.
  • Create a conducive classroom environment for learning and development.
  • Manage student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Maintain communication with parents, students, and colleagues.
  • Participate in staff development activities to enhance job-related skills.
