About the position

Certified Teaching Assistants (CTAs) provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a Certified Teacher. They work with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects, assist the teacher in developing appropriate learning and behavioral experiences, and help students utilize available instructional resources. CTAs also maintain instructional materials and perform general clerical tasks to support the teacher's instructional efforts.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects.
• Provide the teacher with information about students to assist in the development of appropriate learning and behavioral experiences.
• Assist students in the use of available instructional resources and in the development of instructional materials.
• Utilize own special skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in areas such as foreign languages, arts, crafts, music, and similar subjects.
• Assist in related instructional work as required.
• Assist students with specific health-related activities as appropriate.
• Maintain instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/records for ensuring availability of items and meeting mandated requirements.
• Perform general clerical tasks to help the teacher prepare instructional materials.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• NYSD Certification as a Level I Teaching Assistant (Must obtain Level III within 4 years of appointment).
• Completion of required state workshops, including Child Abuse Detection & Reporting, School Violence Prevention, and DASA.

Benefits

• Minimum Starting Range = $18.93 - $25.18
