This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by performing computed tomography procedures, including CT procedures of an invasive nature. The role involves ensuring that all accurate and clinically relevant information is communicated with patients, their families, and co-workers at hand offs and other times as needed. The technician will perform diagnostic x-ray and CT exams according to established protocol and with the least amount of radiation needed to obtain a quality image. Responsibilities include explaining and preparing the patient for all CT exams, demonstrating a working knowledge of RIS, PACS, Laborworkx and other computer software, and verifying patient information and exam appropriateness. The technician will also review diagnostic images for quality and repeat poor quality images, establish intravenous access for contrast media injection, and support the educational process of the School of Radiology by supervising and training students and new employees. Adherence to safety regulations and guidelines is crucial.
