About The Position

The position involves operating CT equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures, including imaging processing for various body parts. The role requires obtaining medical histories, ensuring exam accuracy, and providing radiation protection. The technologist will prepare and administer contrast media, assist in scanning techniques, and post-process images. Additionally, the position involves maintaining records, entering patient information into the radiology information system, and performing quality assurance tests on equipment. The role requires physical demands such as lifting and transporting patients, and the ability to demonstrate knowledge of patient care across different age groups.

Requirements

  • Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Computed Tomography (CT) registration issued by the ARRT needs to be obtained within 18 months.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the AHA needs to be obtained within 6 months.
  • Advanced training beyond High School in Radiologic Technology.
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and basic radiation safety.
  • Competent in IV and venipuncture (if required by facility).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Competently operates CT equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures.
  • Obtains medical history from patients and ensures exam accuracy.
  • Positions patients and selects proper scanning factors.
  • Provides radiation protection and safety in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist.
  • Post-processes images and accurately labels them.
  • Maintains records in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Identifies equipment performance issues and performs quality assurance tests.
  • Performs patient positioning and transporting duties.
