About The Position

Independently performs computed tomography (CT) procedures utilizing proper techniques and administration of contrast media. The role operates within the scope of practice and in accordance with certificate/licensure for medication administration, equipment operation, and venipuncture. Responsibilities include coordinating patient flow and CT scanner activities, exercising professional judgment to maintain equipment, and potentially performing procedures in other imaging modalities or facilities. The position may also include on-call responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Allied Health with a major in Radiologic Technology
  • CPR Certification required within 30 days of hire
  • ARRT RT (R) registry required
  • ODH licensure required
  • No prior job-related work experience
  • Cross-sectional anatomy
  • Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Proficient in Radiology Information System (RIS) and Image Storage
  • Advanced CT computer applications
  • Radiation safety

Nice To Haves

  • CT registry preferred
  • One year experience or additional training in specialized field of CT

Responsibilities

  • Performs CT procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols and evaluates CT studies for technical image quality.
  • Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the CT procedure.
  • Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed CT policies / procedures. Performs daily and weekly QC as required.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media to the patient according to policy. Practices sterile techniques.
  • Assists Radiologist in special procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations.
  • Coordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time and satisfaction.
  • Assesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs. Thoroughly educates patients about exam.
  • Ensures that all records, files and reports are properly recorded as required, performs clerical duties when necessary, verifies a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure.
  • Maintains knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit.
  • Follows radiation safety policies and procedures.
