Requirements

  • AS (Required)
  • ARRT - Computed Tomography (CT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • ARRT-CT W/I 1 Yr (Computed Tomography) - Sarah Bush Lincoln
  • ARRT - Radiography (R) - (within 1 year) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • BLS or CPR certification within 90 days of hire. - Sarah Bush Lincoln
  • IEMA - Illinois Emergency Management Agency - State of Illinois

Responsibilities

  • Accurate image identification.
  • Assures accuracy and high quality images.
  • Completes continuing education on CT specific safety annually.
  • Obtains proper consent for procedures.
  • Performs CT exams by setting, adjusting, manipulating, and controlling a variety of complex electronic equipment.
  • Performs intravenous injection of contrast media products under the guidance of the Radiologist.
  • Provides proper documentation in patient chart of radiation dose and contrast use.
  • Remains current regarding knowledge of Creatinine & GFR levels to aid in determining the use of contrast. Understands criteria, normal vs. elevated levels, protocols to follow for abnormal levels, and consults w/ physician or nurse as appropriate.
  • Utilizes PACS and HIS system to archive and record patient data.
  • Utilizes proper radiation safety techniques to scan patients and provide excellent quality at minimal dose.
