About The Position

The CT Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures using computed tomography (CT) equipment to capture high-quality images of patients' internal structures. The role involves interacting with patients, positioning them correctly, administering contrast agents when needed, and ensuring accurate image acquisition for the radiologist to interpret. The CT Tech ensures safety, maintains equipment, and follows protocols while providing compassionate care to patients.

Requirements

  • ARRT (CT) certification required (or ARRT (R) with CT registry eligible depending on facility requirements).
  • State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist (if applicable).
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in CT imaging preferred.
  • BLS certification (AHA) required.
  • Strong understanding of cross-sectional anatomy, radiation safety, and CT imaging protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CT scans according to established protocols and physician instructions.
  • Operate CT scanners and related imaging equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Verify patient identity, review medical history, and ensure appropriate preparation for exams.
  • Position patients correctly to obtain optimal imaging results.
  • Administer contrast media under approved guidelines and monitor patients for any adverse reactions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including patient records, exam details, and contrast usage.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards and ALARA principles.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare staff to facilitate patient care.
  • Provide compassionate and professional assistance to patients, explaining procedures and addressing concerns.
  • Perform equipment quality checks and report any malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
  • Follow all hospital and departmental policies, including infection control and safety procedures.
