About The Position

This position is primarily responsible for performing diagnostic radiology and CT scans according to departmental protocol under the direction of a radiologist in a manner to provide exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school education or equivalent.
  • Requires completion of radiologic technology training and ARRT registration.
  • Texas Medical Board Certified as a Medical Radiology Technologist (MRT)is required.
  • Current CPR/Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification with AED required.
  • All required certifications are required as initial and continued employment at Gonzaba Medical Group is contingent upon this credential.
  • Three years’ experience in CT and Radiology in hospital or clinical setting
  • Skilled in use of computer/EMR systems.
  • Knowledge of Word processing software, spreadsheet software, Internet, and database software.
  • RIS/PAC software experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • ARRT in Ct is preferred.
  • Bilingual ability in English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns.
  • Produces CT Images of specific areas as required by the departmental procedures.
  • Assures all exams have proper authorization for ordered study.
  • Starts IV for intravenous contrast studies.
  • Prepares patients for radiology and CT procedures utilizing established protocols for patient care and safety.
  • Prepares contrast media.
  • Prepares patient for exam.
  • Ensures equipment is in working order.
  • Runs QC test on specified days.
  • Monitors (quality control) their own scans for technical quality by setting proper radiological techniques for each view/exam.
  • Logs procedures completed.
  • Process routine paperwork.
  • Maintains CT rooms.
  • Stocks necessary medical and radiology supplies.
  • Assists Supervisor during ACR accreditation to perform required exams and provide required images and reports.
  • Positions patients and adjusts equipment for taking X-rays following established procedures.
  • Instructs patients regarding procedures. Observes patients during examination.
  • Follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment.
  • Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on individual patient basis.
  • Examines radiologic image for properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion.
  • Authorizes release of patients upon completion of radiologic examination.
  • Ensures images are in accordance with imaging protocols and completes exams for radiologist to review.
  • Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
  • Cleans and makes minor adjustments to radiologic equipment.
  • Participates in training employees, student technologists in equipment operation, patient movement, and quality assurance.
  • Transports patients safely from the following positions: sitting to standing or laying down, from standing to sitting or laying down, from laying down to standing or sitting, and assist to the bathroom, into/out of wheelchairs, and pushing/pulling patients in wheelchairs.
  • Must always keep the patients’ safety a priority, which will involve preventing potential falls as needed.
  • Will need to travel to support patient care at all GMG locations on a rotational basis.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality.
  • Assumes responsibility for maintaining clinical competencies according to Gonzaba Medical Group policy.
  • Ensures customer service is always maintained at the highest level.
  • Exercise tact and courtesy when dealing with patients, visitors, providers, and co-workers.
  • Must always adhere to customer service expectations including in-person and virtual (via telephone, or telehealth applications) communication.
  • Participates in educational programs as needed.
  • Performs clerical functions as required including answering the telephone, burning CDs and assisting medical staff with questions.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions to Radiology Manager.
  • Bilingual ability in English/Spanish preferred.
  • Other duties as assigned.
