About The Position

As a CT Technologist at UNC Health Appalachian, you'll be part of a skilled imaging team dedicated to delivering accurate, high-quality diagnostic studies that directly impact patient treatment and outcomes. You'll combine technical expertise with compassionate patient interaction, ensuring comfort, safety, and efficiency during each CT exam. Compensation: Starting at $33.44/hour, depending on experience, education, certifications, and internal equity. Requirements

  • Graduate of an AMA-accredited radiologic sciences program.
  • Applicable registry credential required; R-CT preferred.
  • Clinical radiographic and imaging experience from an AMA-accredited health science program.
  • Ability to complete the CT Technologist Level II orientation program.
  • CT registry required within 2 years of achieving Level II competency.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required at hire.
  • Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Demonstrated competence in providing safe and effective patient care within license scope.
  • Understanding of the continuum of care in imaging and patient care departments.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional customer service and maintain professionalism at all times.
  • Continuous standing and walking for 8+ hours per shift.
  • Speaking, reading, and writing for 8+ hours per day.
  • Exposure to vibration and cramped spaces for 1+ hour per day.
  • Frequent patient mobilization for 4+ hours per day.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling 50+ lbs per shift.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching.
  • Frequent repetitive hand and wrist movements with moderate dexterity.
  • Frequent close eye work and exposure to soft voices from >3 feet away.
  • Frequent exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, mechanical/electrical equipment, and unpleasant environmental elements.
  • Irregular hours including nights, weekends, holidays; on-call required.
  • Must respond effectively to emergency or crisis situations.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of diagnostic radiology experience preferred.
  • Applicable registry credential required; R-CT preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality CT examinations according to physician orders and imaging protocols.
  • Use scientific knowledge and technical skills to produce accurate diagnostic information.
  • Provide compassionate, clear communication to patients and families before, during, and after exams.
  • Ensure strict adherence to radiation safety, infection control, and ARHS standards.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies or changes in patient condition.
  • Assist coworkers, patients, families, and visitors within scope of practice.
  • Maintain effective, professional relationships with colleagues, physicians, and leadership.
  • Participate in ongoing training and complete Level II CT Technologist competency requirements.
