Essential functions include reviewing patient history and physician's orders, educating patients about procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure their understanding and cooperation, and preparing and administering contrast media and/or medications as ordered, within the scope of practice. The CT Technologist is responsible for continually monitoring the patient's condition and responding to any changes in status as appropriate. They prepare equipment and supplies, implement safety standards, and perform necessary quality control procedures on the equipment. The technologist is also tasked with troubleshooting, resolving, and reporting any equipment malfunctions. The technologist positions the patient, performs imaging procedures, analyzes the results, and identifies any issues with image quality. If needed, they take appropriate action to resolve these issues, such as repositioning the patient and repeating the procedure. Finally, the technologist enters, transmits, and reports scan results as part of the imaging process.
