Work Shift Day (United States of America) Sign on Bonus Available: $20,000.00 Hours: Thursday, Friday and Saturday 6:30pm - 7:00am Weekend Option! Job Summary: Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to the patient by performing all exams provided by the department according to department procedures. Has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study. Responsible for performing various technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in the utilization of equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patients for the procedure.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • ARRT‑R — ARRT Radiography
  • ARRT‑CT — ARRT Computed Tomography
  • BLS — Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS — American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I — Basic Life Support Instructor
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Radiology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for frequent interaction with physicians, patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Ability to obtain, present, and discuss clinical information related to job responsibilities.
  • Ability to explain procedures and provide clear directions to maintain cooperation and goodwill.
  • Ability to function independently and under pressure while contributing to a team environment.
  • Strong customer service skills and professional behavior at all times.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑stress environment.
  • Strong prioritization skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask throughout the shift.

  • Competency in all aspects of CT, including patient positioning, exposure factors, and radiation protection.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy and pathology and how they affect image quality.
  • Competency in performing all ACR and manufacturer‑recommended Quality Control tests.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care Verifies proper clinician order for procedure.
  • Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data, and assesses for contraindicating conditions.
  • Follows established procedures for administering contrast media to ensure patient safety and prevent complications.
  • Ensures all studies have proper patient identification and appropriate right/left markers.
  • Reviews CT/radiographic images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients.
  • Responds to emergency situations; restocks crash cart and maintains life‑support equipment.
  • Assists technologists in all imaging modalities when needed.
  • Observes patient condition and evaluates when physician intervention is necessary.
  • Verifies patient identity using two unique identifiers per hospital policy.
  • Ensures patient privacy, comfort, and dignity throughout the exam/procedure.
  • Demonstrates competence in selecting appropriate procedures, equipment, supplies, and techniques based on patient age.
  • Organizes schedule, time, and priorities to complete required activities within designated time frames.
  • Follows physician instructions during procedures and exams.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with loading and operating power injectors.
  • Uses critical thinking skills.
  • Communicates effectively with patients and families.
  • Asks clarifying questions and seeks clarification on ambiguous orders.
  • Understands, demonstrates, and documents pre‑procedural verification and Time Out processes.
  • Demonstrates understanding of pre‑ and post-procedural care.
  • Prepares patients for procedures.
  • Demonstrates understanding of sterile technique.
  • Maintains competency in venipuncture.
  • Equipment Adjusts technique to ensure the lowest possible radiation dose while maintaining image quality.
  • Reports malfunctioning equipment to supervisor or service provider for timely correction.
  • Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment per infection control policy and department cleaning schedule.
  • Education and Communication Clearly explains the purpose and nature of exams using AIDET to reduce anxiety and improve cooperation.
  • Ensures patient questions, concerns, and contraindications are addressed; notifies physician when necessary.
  • Participates in orientation and training of departmental employees.
  • Provides preparatory instructions and procedure explanations to patients.
  • Ensures documentation is concise, legible, and uses precise terminology.
  • Reads work email daily and follows through with assignments.
  • Completes mandatory departmental and hospital‑wide education without prompting.
  • Quality Control Consistently produces acceptable images based on radiologist feedback and quality audits.
  • Ensures equipment is fully operational before each use by checking calibration and for deficiencies.
  • Sends all studies to PACS immediately after completion; prints CDs as needed.
  • Prints and scans after‑hours teleradiology reports into PACS when applicable.
  • Completes all studies in RIS before completing them in PACS.
  • Prints completed teleradiography log sheets and submits them to the radiologist when applicable.
  • Operations Restocks linens and supplies; maintains a clean and orderly department.
  • Transports and positions patients; assists them on and off the procedure table.
  • Performs patient charging activities on the day services are rendered.
  • Applies shielding, supportive, and immobilization devices appropriately.
  • Willingly provides knowledge and assistance to others as needed and when time allows.
  • Performs clerical and support duties when necessary to ensure continuity of services.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of responsibilities, issues, and potential problems.
  • Maintains productivity levels consistent with coworkers.
  • Operates all CT department workstations.
  • Pushes/retrieves images from the CT console to PACS.
  • Maintains Joint Commission and other regulatory standards.
  • Takes call when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
