About The Position

This position is for a CT Technologist within the CT department at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital. The role involves performing Computed Tomography procedures using various General Electric CT Systems (Revolution, Lightspeed, Brightspeed, and HD750), post-processing images, coordinating patient scheduling, and performing Quality Assurance Tests on equipment. The technologist is also responsible for obtaining patient history, charging examinations, preparing images for radiologists, starting IVs, administering contrast material, and monitoring patient conditions. Requirements

  • 12-24 months experience in radiology
  • Graduate of Radiologic Technology program
  • 2 hours of stroke education/year
  • Knowledge and understanding of cross sectional anatomy and CT procedures
  • Able to perform all routine CT procedures
  • Good oral & written communication skills
  • Computer competent
  • ARRT Registry (RT)
  • IDNS License
  • CPR
  • IV Certification within 3 months of date of hire
  • CT Registration within 1 year of date of hire

Responsibilities

  • Performs Computed Tomography procedures utilizing General Electric Revolution, Lightspeed, Brightspeed, and HD750 Computerized Tomography Systems according to established operating procedures, clinical protocols, and imaging techniques.
  • Performs computerized post-processing of images using reconstruction software appropriate to the pathology or region of interest under investigation.
  • Addresses minor customer complaints. Tactfully resolves complaints; refers difficult complaints or sensitive issues to higher authority.
  • Coordinates the scheduling of inpatients and outpatients to ensure efficient utilization of CT equipment and personnel.
  • Performs Quality Assurance Tests on CT equipment to ensure optimal image quality and equipment performance.
  • Maintains equipment safety by performing daily Tube Warm Up and Calibrations on CT scanners.
  • Communicates equipment issues or concerns to appropriate personnel and/or ILinqs issues directly to GE service.
  • Maintains appropriate cleanliness of diagnostic and support equipment.
  • Obtains patient history and other relevant clinical information; documents all patient information on appropriate forms in preparation for review and dictation by a radiologist.
  • Responsible for charging of patient examinations, and preparing images and clinical information for interpretation by a radiologist.
  • Starts IVs using appropriate technique, prepares and administers contrast material, and monitors patient condition during the CT procedure.
  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels of medical supplies.
  • Initiates requests for emergency medical support as indicated by patient condition; this is to include Code Blue, Respiratory Distress, etc.
