About The Position

This is a PRN (Pro Re Nata) position for a CT Technologist, classified as Non-Exempt. The role involves performing complex specialized tasks related to the operation of CT scanners, power injectors, and associated equipment, strictly adhering to radiation safety procedures. Key responsibilities include patient positioning for CT scans, executing exams according to Imaging Department Protocols or in consultation with a Radiologist, and assisting radiologists with routine and interventional CT procedures. The technologist is also responsible for evaluating the technical quality of CT scans, managing processed images, and dispensing or ordering oral contrast. Proficiency in IV placement and safe IV contrast administration is essential, along with advanced knowledge in radiographic procedures such as X-ray, Fluoroscopy, C-arm, and OR work. The position requires adherence to ALARA standards for radiation safety, consistent equipment operation, and independent troubleshooting. Administrative duties include maintaining accurate patient records in EHR, managing charging procedures and supplies, and inventory control. The role demands flexibility, including assisting in other modalities, adjusting schedules, and being available for calls, overtime, or holiday shifts. The technologist is expected to be self-motivated, exercise independent judgment, and work with minimal supervision, while also contributing to clerical tasks, patient transportation, and staff training. The technologist is also expected to demonstrate full commitment to the CHOICE values of MRH, maintain effective communication, adhere to dress code, exhibit initiative, complete all required training and certifications, maintain patient confidentiality, report to work punctually, contribute to performance improvement, ensure regulatory compliance, and follow all infection control, safety, and risk management procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age (21 for positions requiring driving, with a valid driver’s license).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
  • Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program.
  • ARRT registration in Radiology (R), including Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or must obtain within 90 days of hire or transfer).

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years prior experience as a practicing CT Technologist.
  • Cross-trained into other modalities, including, but not limited to: MRI, DEXA and Mammography.
  • Experience with electronic records, including PACS and RIS/HIS.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners, power injectors, and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures.
  • Positions patients for CT scans using patient positioning devices and protective equipment as necessary.
  • Performs all exams based on Imaging Department Protocols or protocols the exam with the Radiologist.
  • Assists radiologist with routine and interventional CT procedures.
  • Evaluates CT scans for technical quality, collates processed images in sequence of exposure, and labels appropriately.
  • Films/transmits to Image Archival System.
  • Dispenses and/or orders oral contrast to patients for CT scans.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in IV placement for contrast administration and safe IV contrast administration.
  • Demonstrates proficiency and advanced knowledge in radiographic procedures, including, but not limited to X-ray and Fluoroscopy, with C-arm, and OR work.
  • Practices radiation safety, adhering to ALARA standards.
  • Ability to operate equipment consistently with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems and independently calls a service engineer if the malfunction needs outside maintenance.
  • Maintains accurate patient records in EHR, including charging procedures and supplies.
  • May be required to perform other functions within the clinic.
  • Demonstrates flexibility by assisting in other modalities, adjusting schedules, and taking calls, overtime, or holiday shifts as needed.
  • Obtains additional training or certification as required.
  • Assists with clerical duties, phone reception, and patient transportation when required.
  • Assists, trains, or cross-trains imaging staff members as directed.
  • Must be self-motivated, use independent judgment, and be able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Responsible for ordering, stocking, and maintaining supply inventory.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Follows all infection control, safety, and risk management procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients, the public, and staff.
