POSITION SUMMARY: CT Technologist reviews CT ordered and accesses which protocol to use. Proper parameters must be used to obtain quality images for diagnostic purposes. Proper techniques must be used to obtain quality films for diagnostic purposes.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Registration as an American Registered Radiologic Technologist and CT Technologist.
  • a minimum of 1-year work experience in a health care facility setting.
  • Excellent clinical skills with outstanding customer service skills are required.
  • Deep understanding of the human body, particularly cross-sectional anatomy.
  • Knowledge of radiographic procedures, protocols, and techniques.
  • Familiarity with CT equipment, scanners (e.g., GE, Siemens, Philips), and PACS systems.
  • Knowledge of ALARA principles and safety protocols to protect patients and staff.
  • Understanding of contrast agents, their uses, and contraindications.
  • Familiarity with common diagnostic and procedural terms.
  • Knowledge of laws and ethical standards related to patient confidentiality.
  • Awareness of steps to take in the event of adverse reactions or emergencies during scans.
  • Skill in operating and troubleshooting CT equipment and software.
  • Accurate patient positioning to ensure quality imaging.
  • Competency in starting IVs and administering contrast media.
  • The ability to provide compassionate care, especially for patients who are in pain, anxious, or unable to communicate well.
  • Clear, professional communication with patients, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Efficient workflow management, especially in high-volume or emergency settings.
  • Accurate recording of patient information, procedure details, and scan results.
  • Ability to assess scan quality, identify potential issues, and adjust protocols as needed.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and their companions in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with fellow team members and staff in a courteous, friendly and professional manner.
  • Ability to assist with patient transfers and stand for extended periods.
  • Maintain high standards for image quality and patient safety.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Work requires hand dexterity for office machine operation, stooping and bending to files and supplies, mobility to complete errands, or sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Must possess visual and auditory acuity to communicate with physicians, co-workers, and other customer groups
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids.
  • Must be able to lift to 50+ lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Performing CT exams
  • Clinical duties
  • Start IV for contrast studies when needed
  • Review the CT safety screening sheet with patient
  • Investigate CT Safety of implants
  • Other duties as assigned – i.e., maintaining equipment and supplies
