Position Purpose Perform imaging procedures at a technical level requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT program.
  • ARRT registry eligible technologists must obtain ARRT certification within 6 months of hire.
  • CT registry must be acquired within 18 months of obtaining the primary registry or date of hire if already certified.
  • CNMT graduates must obtain CNMT registry within 6 months of hire.
  • ARRT certification as a Radiologic Technologist or CNMT certification.
  • CT registry within required timeframe.
  • CPR or BLS certification (AHA standards including didactic and skills demonstration) within 30 days of hire.
  • All CT Technologists working in NY facilities performing contrast media injection must be certified by ARRT or NMTCB and licensed through the New York State Department of Health.
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting (with renewal)
  • Act 33 (with renewal)
  • Act 34 (with renewal)
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance (with renewal)

Responsibilities

  • Perform CT procedures using established protocols, including contrast administration.
  • Operate advanced imaging equipment for acquisition, analysis, and documentation of image data.
  • Ensure accurate coding, tracking, and archiving of exams; enter charges appropriately.
  • Administer oral, rectal, and IV contrast per physician orders and assess patient risk factors.
  • Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures and ease concerns.
  • Apply independent judgment to adjust protocols for optimal diagnostic results.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork and patient-centered care with dignity and respect.
  • Verify patient identity using two identifiers and follow universal protocol.
  • Document patient history and maintain accurate electronic records.
  • Perform venipuncture and operate power injectors per department standards.
