Under the direction of the radiologist performs a variety of routine and complex CT scanning examinations for the purpose of diagnosing abnormalities, contributing to the efficient operation of the department and continuity of patient care Essential Functions and Duties: Independently performs complex computerized axial tomography (CT) scanning of the abdomen, head, extremities, chest and spine. Receives order and patient, explains method of procedure, positions and enters necessary data into computer for examination. Independently performs examination after conferring with the radiologist (if necessary) to establish examination requirements. Obtains information from patient and/or patient's medical record for allergy history and laboratory renal function. Administers contrast orally and intravenously to patient. Recognizes physiological changes that may require modification of standard protocol in order to obtain adequate data that yields diagnostic useful clinical information. Maintains permanent record of scans. Shows scans to radiologist or referring physician for diagnostic evaluation. Notifies the radiologist or physician of patient scans requiring immediate attention. Makes minor adjustments to equipment such as window width and window leveling. Immediately notifies manager and equipment service personnel of equipment malfunction. Performs all required CT quality assurance testing. Performs duties as a Radiology Technologist as needed.
