About The Position

The position involves operating CT equipment to perform diagnostic procedures, including imaging processing for various body parts. Responsibilities include obtaining medical histories, positioning patients, selecting scanning factors, administering contrast media, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. The role also requires maintaining records, entering patient information into the radiology system, and performing quality assurance tests on equipment. The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of patient care across different age groups and be able to perform physical tasks related to patient handling.

Requirements

• Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
• Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Computed Tomography (CT) registration issued by the ARRT needs to be obtained within 18 months.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the AHA needs to be obtained within 6 months.
• Advanced training beyond High School in Radiologic Technology.
• Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and basic radiation safety.
• Competent in IV and venipuncture (if required by facility).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Intermediate computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Competently operates CT equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures.
• Obtains medical history from patients and compares requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
• Positions patient and selects proper scanning factors, adjusting factors to attain appropriate images.
• Provides radiation protection and safety in accordance with regulatory agencies.
• Prepares and administers contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist.
• Assists in proper scanning techniques and provides measurements for accurate interpretation.
• Post-processes images as directed and accurately identifies and labels images.
• Prepares and maintains records in accordance with regulatory agencies.
• Enters patient and study information into the radiology information system.
• Documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
• Identifies equipment performance issues and performs quality assurance tests.
• Reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff.
• Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties.
