About The Position

The position involves operating CT equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures, including imaging processing for various body parts. The technologist will obtain medical histories, ensure exam accuracy, position patients, select scanning factors, and provide radiation protection. Responsibilities also include preparing and administering contrast media, post-processing images, maintaining records, and performing quality assurance tests on equipment. The role requires knowledge of patient care across different age groups and the ability to assess and interpret patient data. The position is full-time, requiring 40 hours per week, typically structured as four 10-hour shifts during weekdays.

Requirements

  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Computed Tomography (CT) registration issued by the ARRT needs to be obtained within 12 months.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the AHA or American Red Cross required prior to start date.
  • Advanced training beyond High School, including completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology such as an Associate Degree in Radiography.
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and basic radiation safety.
  • Competent in IV and venipuncture (if required by facility).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Competently operates CT equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures.
  • Obtains medical history from patients and compares requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
  • Positions patient and selects proper scanning factors, adjusting factors to attain appropriate images.
  • Provides radiation protection and safety in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist.
  • Assists in proper scanning techniques and provides measurements for accurate interpretation.
  • Post-processes images as directed and accurately identifies and labels images.
  • Prepares and maintains records in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Enters patient and study information into the radiology information system.
  • Documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
  • Identifies equipment performance issues and performs quality assurance tests.
  • Reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff.
  • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, requiring lifting and pushing/pulling.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.
