About The Position

CT TECHNOLOGIST I RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST- OUTPATIENT IMAGING CENTER: M-F MEDLINK GEORGIA IMAGING Winder Imaging Center Full-Time Day Shift SUMMARY_____________________________________________________________ The CT Technologist assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to the patient by performing all CT exams provided by the department according to department procedures with the knowledge and ability to obtain a quality diagnostic study properly and safely. Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgement, ingenuity, and initiative in the utilization of Computed Tomography equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of disease. The technologist is able to independently perform job functions. Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patient for the procedure. SUMMARY_____________________________________________________________ The Radiologic Technologist must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to the patient by performing all exams provided by the department according to department procedures.   • Graduate from an accredited program in Radiologic Technology
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (R)
  • Graduate of an accredited School of radiologic Technology

Responsibilities

  • Operation and responsibility for CT equipment and other medical equipment to produce high quality diagnostic scans.
  • Delivers compassionate care, while utilizing radiation protection to the patent under the guidelines of ALARA.
  • Demonstrates an adequate knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology.
  • Communicates patient needs and responses through appropriate verbal and written correspondence.
  • Prepares patients having CT procedures with proper positioning.
  • Provides safe and effective IV contrast administration as directed and per protocol.
  • Load and operate power injector for contrast media administration.
  • Ensures documentation is complete and accurate regarding all aspects of patient care.
  • Ensures that patients have been prepared for procedures.
  • Assist Radiologists in developing new protocols and CT Imaging techniques.
  • Communicates clinical observations during CT scan examination to the Radiologist.
  • Monitors equipment and aides in coordination of repairs.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Maintains Quality Assurance program for ACR.
  • Competency with PACS and EMR systems.
  • Assists with performing and planning multiple diagnostic procedures in appropriate time sequence.
  • Provides assistance to colleagues in recognizing, interpreting, and managing unstable patient care situations.
  • Functions independently with little guidance from supervisor needed.
  • Provide training to new technologists with regular checks, direction and qualified work examples performed by an experienced team member.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Delivers compassionate care to maintain a high standard of Radiography.
  • To ensure that the three principles of radiation protection, namely justification, optimization (ALARA) and dose constraints/limits are adhered to.
  • Escort patients to dressing and x-ray rooms, provide verbal and/or written instructions and assist patients in positioning body parts to be radiographed.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety.
  • Operate radiologic equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes.
  • Position radiologic equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance according to specification of examination.
  • Take x-rays following established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety.
  • To take part in routine daily inspection of equipment and quality assurance procedures.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to Imaging Services Director.
  • To take responsibility for the general cleanliness, tidiness, and safety of the Department, with specific responsibility for their own work area.
  • To familiarize themselves with current infection control procedures.
  • Maintain adequate radiologic supplies.
  • Proficiency in PACS and EMR systems
  • Perform other duties as required.
