Job Description: The CT Technologist is part of the radiation oncology treatment team and works closely with the physics and dosimetry departments to perform the CT Simulation of the patient. They ensure the reproducibility of the patient setup, enabling accurate daily treatment setup to deliver high quality accurate treatments. The CT Technologist is required to maintain a high level of professionalism and excellence in patient care.

Requirements

  • Certified as a CT/MRI Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT). Candidates who are eligible for ARRT Radiation Therapist examination will be considered with continued employment contingent on obtaining ARRT certification within 6 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Performs CT Simulations as ordered by the radiation oncologist.
  • Performs daily warm up and performance checks of simulation equipment.
  • Works closely with Dosimetry and Physics to ensure a high quality planning CT, that includes all areas needed for treatment planning.
  • Completes all tasks and paperwork associated with Simulation.
  • Fabricates treatment devices for patient immobilization and beam shaping in accordance with patient treatment plans.
  • Performs scheduled and add on QA Simulations to determine if adaptive plans are needed.
  • Documents all aspects of patient care and communications with accuracy in the appropriate clinical application and patient record.
  • Accurately registers patient films for physician review.
  • Reports appropriate charges for services provided to patients.
  • Helps treatment machines during downtime by assisting with patient setup, rooming patients, stocking rooms, assisting with scheduling, etc..
  • Promotes the safety of patients and team members, performing routine disinfection procedures of treatment devices, equipment, and high-contact surfaces, and promptly reporting incidents and unsafe conditions.
  • Participates in the quality/process improvement process.
  • Interacts in an open, cooperative manner with all co-workers to create a positive work climate and promotes high-level professionalism in delivering patient care.
  • Promotes positive patient experience, encouraging patients and involved caregivers to participate in patient satisfaction surveys.
  • Exercises problem-solving and conflict resolution skills when handling patient complaints; refers patient complaints to appropriate designated personnel as needed.
  • Adheres to all Tennessee Oncology policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
