About The Position

The position involves participating in technical duties directly related to the CT Scanner, including developing, initiating, and monitoring procedures for effective utilization of the unit. The role requires maintaining equipment for proper diagnostic imaging, setting up and adjusting equipment based on the exam, accepting and assessing patients, administering contrast agents, reviewing patient charts with the Radiologist, quality controlling images, and adhering to safety regulations. The candidate will also need to embrace technological solutions and foster a culture of safety within the department.

Requirements

  • Formal training in Radiology Technology from an AMA approved program.
  • Minimum of three to four years of Radiologic experience and special procedures experience preferred.
  • One year of exposure or training in CT to be proficient.
  • Computed Tomography (CT) certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Massachusetts Radiation Control Program certification for Computed Tomography.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA within 180 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Responsibilities

  • Maintains equipment for proper diagnostic imaging by cleaning daily and noting any system problems.
  • Sets up and adjusts equipment based on the exam requirements, including calibrating the unit and checking dose limits.
  • Accepts patients and assesses their condition to determine proper handling and explains the procedure to them.
  • Assists in the administration of appropriate contrast agents and performs IV access using sterile technique.
  • Reviews patient charts and requests with the Radiologist to ensure proper examinations are conducted.
  • Quality controls all images, maintains inventory, and adheres to safety regulations.
  • Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology to obtain maximum diagnostic images.
  • Embraces technological solutions to improve work processes and practices.
  • Fosters a culture of safety through personal ownership and commitment to a safe environment.
