About The Position

The position involves operating CT equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures, including imaging processing for various body parts. The role requires obtaining medical histories, ensuring exam accuracy, and providing radiation protection. The candidate will prepare and administer contrast media, assist in scanning techniques, and maintain records in accordance with regulatory agencies. The job also includes performing quality assurance tests on equipment and addressing any performance issues. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge of patient care appropriate to various age groups and be able to perform physical tasks related to patient positioning and transporting.

Requirements

• Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
• Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Computed Tomography (CT) registration issued by the ARRT needs to be obtained within 18 months.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the AHA needs to be obtained within 6 months.
• Advanced training beyond High School in Radiologic Technology.
• Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and basic radiation safety.
• Competent in IV and venipuncture (if required by facility).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Intermediate computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Competently operates CT equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures.
• Obtains medical history from patients and compares requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
• Positions patient and selects proper scanning factors, adjusts factors to attain appropriate images, and provides radiation protection and safety.
• Prepares and administers contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist.
• Assists in proper scanning techniques and provides measurements for accurate interpretation.
• Post-processes images and accurately identifies and labels images.
• Prepares and maintains records in accordance with regulatory agencies.
• Documents billing codes of procedures performed.
• Identifies equipment performance issues and performs quality assurance tests.
• Reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff.
• Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties.
